                                                                          PHOPA Business Meeting June 12, 2025

The meeting was called to order at 6:15 pm at the Port Aransas VFW by Cindy Muir.

​

Kevin Fry reminded everyone about the suggestion box and announced that he was in charge of the committees for Wings Over Port A 2025. Registration packets pickup will coincide with the September Happy Hour at the Sip Yard on September 25 from 5-7 pm. Friday, September 26 will be the Beach event, and September 27 will be the “Beach Gala” at the Civic Center’ He announced the musicians slated to play (Kelly McGuire and Jerry Diaz & The Reef) and reminded everyone that Volunteer Registration is $65.00. He reviewed the three charities for Wings donation money and reviewed the Committees, announcing chairs of some of them.

Fawn Berger was introduced as chairing the recent Charity Committee and she introduced speakers for the three charities to which we will be donating funds. Ashley and Greg Collins spoke for Salty Paws and told members about what they do as a 501(c)3 in Port Aransas.

Following was Andrew Orgill, representing the ARK and he touched on the cost of sea turtle rehab and the various needs they have.

Harold Gage then spoke for the VFW Care & Share Program and described in detail how they help veterans and other areas in the community, including serving a monthly dinner at the Coast guard station.

Fawn made a motion from the committee to divide our upcoming proceeds as to reflect 1/3 given to each of the three charities. There was not a second needed, as it came from the committee, but Deno Fabrie offered a second. There was no discussion, and the motion was approved unanimously.

Cindy Muir asked for a motion to approve the May Business Meeting minute. Mark Bentley made the motion, Paula Baker seconded and the vote to approve was unanimous.

Don Muir gave details about the August 16 Beach Rum Day party with the Padre Island Parrot Head Club.

Cindy announced that Volunteer registration forms were available, and committee sign-up sheets were also available.

Kevin Fry made a motion to adjourn, and it was seconded by Fawn Berger.

The meeting ended at 7:15 pm.
