PHOPA Board Meeting July 22, 2025
The meeting was called to order at 4:35 pm at the Muir’s home by Cindy Muir. In attendance: Kevin Fry, Cindy and Don Muir, Rick Johnston, Tracy Johnston.
Wings update – we need more sponsors. The silent auction items are going well, Jana Dalton is working with Cindy on this. We do need more registration signups! And we actually are getting some in! We need Golf Carts from Volunteers who are willing to donate the GC and drive Wings Gala attendees, due to parking limitations at the Civic Center as the remodel.
Business Meetings - We reviewed the vote totals from the previous business meeting to confirm we will resume business meetings on a monthly basis. We also voted to have a food/social time as part of the business meetings. We have negotiated with The Dunes to have our business meetings at that location. As of this meeting, we have had no other suggestions for business meeting locations.
Happy Hour-
Music – We are still trying to iron out details about music at our Happy Hours. Suggestions
were to have canned music, have the HH venue provide live music, have PHOPA provide
music and no music for those who would rather not. We will get member suggestions at the
next business meeting.
Website Secret Word for HH – Prize for the HH Secret Word that is on the Website should
be a $25 cash or gift card from the venue. Hoping this helps drive members to the Website!
Club Vacancies:
Facebook – Approval from the Board for Jana Dalton to manage the clubs Facebook page.
Newsletter – Approval from the Board for Fawn Berger to manage the clubs Newsletter.
Secretary - Tracy Johnston was voted in to step in as Secretary for the remainder of the 2025 term.
Member Communications – Member Coordinator will be the conduit between the membership and the Board. Communications can happen in person at club events, through the website using the ‘Contact Us’ button on the site menu on the website or via email using PHOPA_RJ1@aol.com.
Website updates – we have 26 members who upgraded to a Site Member. The New/Renewal membership page has been updated with an opt in/opt out of having personal information published on the website. For those who have opted in, the membership list has been published to the website. The opt in/opt out line item has to be included on the New/Renew hardcopy form.
Christmas Party and Spring Phling – Still waiting on the December performance dates for the Port Aransas Community Theater to see if we can use the PACT as a venue for the Christmas Party. Spring Phling is on the Harbor Masters schedule for Feb 21 at the Pavilion. We are checking on availability of tables.
Misc. items:
HH for July we are collecting school supplies.
